Troubled Families Programme
On 15 December 2011 the Prime Minister announced that the Government would launch a major new programme to turn around the lives of the country's 120,000 most troubled families by the next election in 2015.
The Troubled Families programme begins this April 2012. Under this programme, local authorities will be responsible for delivering interventions which focus on the family as a whole to tackle entrenched problems.
Tackling crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB) is an important element in identifying the families and achieving results and youth offending is one of the prescribed criteria used to identify the families. Guidance to local authorities also encourages them to include families with other factors, such as adult offenders and children on the edge of care.
This meeting will focus on next steps.
Speaker: Alison Jackson, Service Manager: Children's Trust and Commissioning Children and Young People's Services and Troubled Families Coordinator
