Health and Social Care Network
The Health and Social Care Network is part of the voluntary and community sector (VCS) Assembly for Bristol. The Health & Social Care Network is supported by Sue Brazendale, Development Worker, sue@voscur.org or phone 0117 909 9949, who is working to extend the voice and influence of the voluntary sector in this area. The current activities for the network are:-
1. NETWORK MEETINGS. VCS groups meet 3 times a year to find out about current health & social care topics, share views and inform us of priorities for the sector, to find out more about our network meetings click on the following link:-Health and Social Care Network meetings
2. THE BRISTOL HEALTH & WELLBEING BOARD. Bristol VCS has an elected Advocate, Peter Walker, on this new and important Board, which was set up as part of the national changes to the NHS arising from The Health & Social Care Act 2012. 3. HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE WORKING GROUP, PERSONALISATION. Bristol City Council is making changes in contractual arrangements to impliment delivery of the personalisation agenda. About 50 VCS groups are affected. The working group has 5 VCS members who meet monthly with Commissioners to look at the process, and to inform strategic thinking with the views of the VCS on Health & Social Care. At the meeting we will hear:-
- Alison Comley, Interim Strategic Director for Health and Social Care (Interim), Bristol City Council, will talk about changes in delivery to health & Social Care: ‘Delivering an effective social care system’.
- What are the priority issues for Health and Social Care community and voluntary groups? We will be working on the information gathered at our last network meeting to identify the key issues for the sector.
- Update from the VCS Working group on the move of contractual arrangements from ‘block’ to ‘spot’ purchase of VCS services.
